Reporting to the Chief Surveyor this position will have mainly UG yet closer to the end of the year will see you working the full gamut of both UG and OP field based mine survey responsibilities and get you involved in some of the short and medium term mine plans. There are three major attractions for this Mine Surveying role.

Joining a well integrated team of 8. Technically as the Senior here, you will be the Lead Surveyor on this site and share the leadership with your back to back who runs 4 guys and you run the other 4. This site will  enhance your mining know how and leadership skills beyond what can be expected for a Mine Surveyor at most operations.

Mine Manager has a vision to create a survey crew with the technical aptitude to handle any survey requirement be that in the pit, underground or on one of the potential Satellite pits found with in a 100km radius of current mining activity. Option to gain experience in handling the tailings dams, waste pit and road surveys as well - or stay focused in the pits - up to you in this team.

You must have a desire to work across a few different types of  open pits. Long term mining plans also include new pits and underground mines in 2012/2013 providing dedicated technical staff the option of moving into mine planning down the track, in line with the policy to promote from within.

Requirements include a tertiary Survey qualification and mining 6+ years OP experience , as well as some familiarity with WA mining regulations and your Grade 2 Auth would put you ahead of the pack here.

Smaller site where your input will be valued and listened to but part of a large international company that provides support for diverse career path options. The good thing is that the site has been given the red light to develop Satellite pits by 3rd quarter this year

Join a survey crew of 6 working a site with multiple small pits within 20-40 km's away. New camp facilities, ensuited rooms, new mining office and with the possibiltiy of a superpit in the pipleline makes for a great place to work and the 60 year mining life provides job security. With a WA operational portfolio up to 6 sites and growing, there will be plenty of opportunity to move between sites and gain experience in Nickel as well. The role will initially see you in the OP team although you will move to a start up in a new UG Project in Sept/Oct to set up the survey standards

Get involved in wide range of production and exploration responsibilities including drill and blast and mine scheduling as well as survey work for 2 gold pits. The site is compact for now although due to the exploration focus  - there will be a heck of a lot more on the go over the next 18 months

Ensuited rooms, new offices onsite and a super pit which has a 60 year mining life has just been given the go ahead makes for a nice place to work and gives you the exposure to different challenges. Expansive WA operational portfolio and international owners means plenty of opportunity to move up the ladder and gain experience in different commodities. FIFO 8/6 Perth on company time.

The role will initially see you working on 3 of their larger open pits although you will gain exposure in pit start up very soon as they have at least 3 looking to moving into operation by December.

The survey controls are in order - the filing is neat and there is a guy in the team that handles alot of the tedious data entry which the other guys have appreciated since he has been there. You would not be walking into someone elses mess bu more so a set up that was already revamped in late 2010 . . the Chief left this role to go to return to West Africa otherwise he liked it here. . . I say  - good luck to him and hope he likes to eat freeze dried rations by candlelight ;)
